"A book cover is a promise that the book itself either keeps...or breaks."

America, AB
DuhMocracy in America
I came up with this when atheists like Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris and Christopher Hitchens launched their attack on all things religious a few years ago. At first, not being faithful to any particular religion myself, I thought it was good to finally hear from the non-believing peanut gallery.
But then I read reviews and parts of each book and felt a little conflicted.
On one hand, I liked their pluck and their willingness to express what many people think but would never think of saying. They all were pretty articulate and even entertaining in their own ways. But they each expressed their faith in no-faith with a snarky certainty that rubbed me the wrong way. I thought, "There's got to be a better answer to this age-old conflict than this". "Faith in Good" is my answer. If you'd like to find out more, email me at lowelltho@gmail.com.

Hey, Lowell! We met the other day at David's party and that's how I found your blog.
You publish really cool content, clever and well written. I read almost all of it and enjoyed it.
If I may make a couple of suggestions... the two things that would benefit the blog immediately are the RSS button so that people can subscribe to you and the archive for older posts to make navigation easier. Blogger platform allows for these things to be added easily.
with this said, you've got the important thing - the content. Well done!
Alex
Alex,
Thanks a lot. It was really a pleasure to meet you yesterday. I'm glad you liked my blog. And I will definitely work on implementing your suggestions.
Lowell
BTW: I'm also going to go check out your blog.
Hi Lowell! I hope you are well and had a great Thanksgiving.
We have just received an image of the finalized cover for Lou's (my husband's) new book. And I thought of you and your blog. The book is titled "Empathy in the Context of Philosophy" by Lou Agosta and had my art on the cover. Would you be interested to see it and perhaps review the cover?
Warmly,
Alex
Alex,
I'm sorry it took a while to get back to you but I had an art opening I was preparing for.
Thanks for thinking of Buy The Cover. I've had a few requests like yours and here's what I've worked out.
In the interest of some day making the blog profitable, I'm charging a fee for looking at book covers. But it's really a token at this point - more to dissuade people who aren't serious than for me to buy a new Ferrari.
Send me $5 and a jpeg of the cover and I'll rate the cover, just like the ones on the site, on a scale of 0 -10 for title and design.
Send me $25 and I'll also write an up to 1 page evaluation of why I rate the cover as I do.
If you want me to consult on cover design/title stuff, I'll charge you $25 per hour.
With any of these plans, there's the possibility I may want to place your cover on the site if I really like it.
I use PayPal, but if you decide to do any of the above and you need my mailing address, just let me know.
Thanks (and happy, happy)
Lowell
Supremely bad is right. We may have gone the full route from one man/woman one vote to one dollar one vote. Bastards. We've got a lot of work to do.

Paul, that's a good line. I may have to steal it.
Lowell
BTW: I'm working on "Through A Black Eye". You'll be the first to know when I get something I like.
